The Gunners - Men From Boys

Young Gunners

It’s high time for the man to come out of their boy shells. The season starts again at Manchester. Two defeats in the supposedly impregnable Emirates Stadium before half the season is even over should become the spring point for an Arsenal revival.

The same tune has been heard twice already this season, once after Fulham and another after the Stoke match. Both times the team responded in great fashion, picking Porto apart and latter triumphant against the reigning European champions. Consistency or rather the lack of it, is a real worry for the club.

Already without a host of first choice players like Sagna, Rosicky, Eduardo, Fabregas, Kolo Toure and Van Persie for the upcoming match against Man City, Wenger was rocked by news of Walcott dislocating his shoulder while on international duty. The right back and center midfield spots could easily be fill by Diaby respectively. The tricky part would be Walcott’s position.

Aaron Ramsey

We’ve seen how Ramsey performed in that role during the recent Fenerbache visit. One would suggest, given Wenger’s lineup selection choice that Ramsey would get another chance to show his worth albeit in unfamiliar side of the pitch. Or Wenger could ring the changes around and we could well see Ramsey in for Fabregas and Wilshere in for Walcott, though the chance of that happening would be to the minimum

As we’ve seen before the choice of players is not the problem with Arsenal. Technically the players know their position well enough to slot in seamlessly. The same type of football is played from the academies through the reserves anyway. The real problem is the mentality of the players in approaching the match.

Win Against Manchester United

If we play Man Utd every week, there is no doubt that Arsenal will finish top of the league every season. The players must instill within themselves the same desire and commitment when facing the lower opposition in the league. If that is put to the table, we could see a welcome return of the Arsenal we all love and support.
