Swapping Emmanuel Eboue for Felipe Melo?

Eboue Will Move Out From Arsenal?

Arsenal’s hopes of signing Brazilian midfielder Melo have been boosted after Fiorentina said they would be interested in a swap deal which would see Eboue move the other way. Arsene Wenger has made known his interest in Melo, who arrived at the Italian side last summer for £7 million, and it seems Fiorentina are willing to talk.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Sporting director Pantaleo Corvino said: “Wenger wants to talk to me. I have no objection also because Eboue seems a valid swap.” Melo is contracted to the Florence side until 2013 and only recently signed a contract extension that includes a £21 million release clause.

For the likes of Juventus, who were also interested in the 25-year-old, this clause may price them out of doing business, but for Arsenal, allowing Eboue to move in the other direction could seal the deal.
